Hugh O’Brian had an encounter with 1952 Nobel Peace Prize winner, Albert Schweitzer, that changed his life.  He left the meeting with a calling to ensure that youth of the United States have the ability to be leaders of peace.  More than 50 years later, the HOBY Leadership Program lets young people make a difference and become positive catalysts for change in the home, school, workplace and community.

The Aldine Noon Optimist sponsored five students to attend the leadership workshop.  They are from left to right:  Angela Rocha (MacArthur HS), Kayla Miles (Victory Early College), Melanie Reyes (Aldine HS), Elizabeth Simms (Nimitz HS) and Chloe Nguyen (Eisenhower HS).
